Two years ago, I started a book of quotes. The quotes are from all over and cover a broad spectrum of topics. Quotes from a girls weekend in South Beach, quotes from overheard conversations, quotes from general conversations with people.
What does my quote book have to do with debt? I once asked a friend if he believed in true love? His response was yes and I quoted him saying this about the subject, "True love is about heart. Family, religion, money, beauty have to mesh." -Anonymous, Charlotte, NC
Point: Divorce is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy. Money problems are a leading cause of divorce. Why does money have to mesh? Here's are my thoughts:
Two people taking on the world together should have similar values and goals. A similar direction. They should want similar things out of life. Hopefully one want is more time with each other - wife doesn't want husband to work forever, husband doesn't want wife to work forever, etc. I
Regarding money, you want to get to a place where you have enough money to ENJOY life. Work is a big part of your life, but shouldn't consume it. Financial success is more likely to happen if two people are on similar paths. I think when two people truly love each other, they want the other to know peace. Financial success is certainly a contributing factor to peace.
